Brief synopsis -- residences
Born in Los Angelos County...only there briefly
lived in Phoenix .. also briefly (no memories of there either)
Moved to upstate NY at the tender age of 18 MOS. Grew up there.
got yanked from the middle of my senior year of high school to
transplant to Baton Rouge, La. (still holding that grudge) spent about
8 years there before lurking in NJ for a month waiting for an original
of my birth certificate so I could get a passport and move to Germany
for a couple of years. (did a cliche thing .. got out of a bad
marriage and went home to mom - cause mom lived in Germany) From
there, it was back to NY for a summer - then Back to La for a bit..
then the day the Gulf war broke out, arrived here in the
sunshine/hurricane/humidity/but no snow in the winter state of
Florida.
OK fine! yas put more than a residence list.. so, here goes more.
I got to trivia my very first day on-line in October of '99 I think.
I had been hearing stuff about tracking down old school mates thru
classmates.com, which was no help in finding the one I really was
looking for. anyway..
That site asked what my interests/hobbies were and trivia was one of
the choices and *poof* here I landed. The first game I remember
playing the whole game and half way keeping up with was Fast & First
with Heidi hosting. One game and I was hooked! It was also the first
game I skeeped. (took Liz 2 training sessions to drag me kicking and
screaming thru scoremaster) When Hi hadda throw in the hosting towel,
it was not long before I missed the game so much I hadda start writing
them.
My first handle here was Marilyn219 but even with the nic Opal...it
kept putting me in the room as Marilyn first.. then diverting to the
nic... hence the current name - which is my birthstone. One of these
days, I might legally adopt Opal as a middle name, since I wasn't
given one when I was born.
As for other stuff I have an interest in... since I was a little kid,
I have been drawing floor plans.. recreational architecture I guess we
could call it. Something about houses always having too much wasted
space and not enough closet space.. and non-functional kitchens (and
when I was a kid.. all houses hadda have a play room! lol) Probably
should have gone into architecture but at the time, I didn't have the
patience in college for a 5 year program.. or the mathematical
aptitude to stick to it.
I have a daughter.. 17 now.. senior in high-school. She's a swimmer
and been at it since she was 10. She is almost as tall as her
mother. Pain in the butt.. but good kid at the same time.
Right now I am between jobs. Wouldn't it be nice if somebody would
pay us to be in trivia? I was managing a little clothing store for a
big company.. who chose to let me know they were closing my store by
sending me a "going out of business" poster in the mail. They did
offer me a transfer, but a 90 minute commute each way didn't impress
me. Guess I will soon have to shop for one of the two ONLY things I
don't like to shop for.. cars and jobs... did I mention?, shopping..
that's one of my hobbies too :) shopping for fudge.. that's just
pure joy!
bored yet? lol that's enough for now. c yas in the game!
