bill you forgot to mention that the crab was somewhat unappreciative
of the candle stuck into his back. Paul removed the candle, but
I told him to {S candle}.

da bash
From: SOLOFLEX8 To: ALL
I would like to make a tip of the cap to the king (or is that queen?)
basher of all time, StarkMad, for yet another wonderful bash!! :>
It was a lot of fun and as always, I am glad I went! It was great to
see many triviots (some 25 or so) and enjoy some face-to-face
conversation, some cards, some games, and great times. Thanks to
one and all for a great bash! Seeya in March! :>

I'll agree with all that...Another great bash! Thanks for all your work
Stark! Had a great time...Nice food, nice beer, nice weather for the walk on
the boardwalk, good card games and good conversation ...
One thing that did bother me a bit about this bash was the lack of new
faces...
Hey all you people who have never been to a bash: Try it, you'll
like it! It's a lot of fun meeting the people you talk to online...It's a
light and breezy event and nothing to get uptight and worried about :) I
mean, how can you go wrong with pizza and beer?
Hope more of you can make it next time...
In the meantime, thanks again Stark and kudos to all who made it to OC !

I want to add my huzzahs to solo's! Mark did his usual superb job of
negotiating, planning, scheduling & following up, not to mention his
having to harass us about $ & reservations when we were remiss.
The bash was super, even though I saw so many queens at the hearts table
at the Christopher Street parade.
Thanks again to Mark, the host-consort Sarah and all of the people who
added to the fun!

mean "old." :D As always, much thanks go to Stark for all his work in

RE: da bash (Re: Msg 22016)
From: ARLENEJ To: ALL
I want to add my Thanks to Stark/Mark and Sarah/Sarah (<----couldn't help
doing that!) for the wonderful Time i had at the OC Bash 5.1. It was very
nice to see everyone again and to get to know some people better.
However, since there was a complaint about a lack of "stories" (read gossip)
about the Bash. I thought i would tell one. Pls. note that parts of this
story *may* be made up and parts are the gossip truth.....i will leave it
to the reader to figure out which are which.
On Friday, as i was discussing with Ceil (co-worker#1) what my plans were
for the weekend, i decided to "fess up" and say that i was going to another
Bash. Her response was immediate, "Do the Police know you're coming?" Some
of you may remember the "story" from the newspaper that was posted prior
to the last Bash. I had shared that with Ceil. We laughed and i assured
her i would be fine. If you happen to know that i work next to the
federally named/designated "Badlands" as seen on a Ted Koppel's Nightline
report not too long ago, this statement becomes even funnier. Anyway,
nothing more was really said and i was told to have a good time.
I got to the Bash on Saturday due to previous commitments and stayed up very
late that night. At some point during that evening, fairly late, a policeman
showed up at the Bash Door. (Oh i forgot to mention that Stark had banned
the Hotel cleaning staff from the conference room area and we all know how
need, clean, and tidy Bashers are.) Anyway this was not Hotel security, of
which the Port-O-Call has none, but a *real* honest to goodness, gun toting,
man of blue. He surveyed the room and asked where our fearless leader was.
(Stark was not in the Bash room when the policeman showed up at the door.)
Since i thought that this was part of the surprize initiation rite that i
had heard about, i refused to answer. (Actually i just looked dumb and
refused to make eye contact.) He then said something about a security
risk and left the room. (Being dumb also requires that i am deaf to
fulfill that well worn phrase, so i can not quote him.) Well, after that,
and because i was under the mistaken impression that this was my initiation,
i didn't ask any questions and just tried to mind my own business.
However, on my return to work on Monday, i related the incident to Ceil
at a time when Karen (coworker#2) was in the office. Ceil, who is *much*
more worldly wise then me (i had to say that cos i told her i would let
her read what i wrote), stated: "The Police probably have old warrants
from 6 months ago." I realized she had wisdom. Of course, she had to
go on to add, "or, he was there to shoot your keyboards." Her last comment
was, "Obviously your group leaves a lasting impression." She went on
to talk about bail bondsmen and NYPD Blue and what my excuse would be,
"You (meaning me, AJ) are the kind of person who hangs out at Porn Shops,
and then tells the police "I'm here to help rehabilitate these perverts.
I'm a Social Worker, dammit!" I really and trully don't understand where
she gets these wrong impressions of me. I told here i would quote her
exactly and she even wrote it down for me so i would get it right. I
would be happy to relay any messages about my true nature that you might
have for her to her.
One last note, on Sunday when i woke up and attempted to talk, i found
out i had a slight case of laryngitis. It cleared up with plenty of
liquids. However, evidently Monday afternoon when i was talking to Ceil
and Karen (coworker #2), my face was flushed. I said i was feeling okay
but that my throat was still a little sore and said how the Bash room
was a little smokey at times and maybe i was still feeling the effects
of that. Ceil later reported to me that Karen had said, *after* i left
the room, that my face was red because i was "high" from the smoke filled
room! and notice how i didn't say *What* exactly my friends were
smoking? I really need to check out the impression that the people i
associate with are having on my reputation.
It was a very nice Bash. Although, contrary to the opinion of others, i
don't see any other use for mug shots.
Moral of the story: You are known by the company you keep.
