Niagra Falls Canada. They have a Casino there also, in addition to the falls experience, a Golf course ( which ain't a sport ) and the rates seem pretty good. The place opens May 1st through September, so let me know what you think and if you're interested, and I'll inquire. From: LEWPORT71 Jan-11 2002 11:43 pm To: 12752 Niagara Falls Ontario is OK. Lots of hotels and tons of touristy things. The Casino is usually really crowded. I can help play tour guide. The golf course is great too and you Need reservations to play. Lots of history in the area. Lots of shopping at the outlet mall in NF NY. General Discussion - BASH HOTEL From: 12752 Jan-28 2002 8:02pm To: ALL Niagara Falls Bonaventure Travelodge

From: HQR Mar-8 2002 9:49am To: ALL I'm planning to drive from N.J. to the June Bash. Since I have never been to Canada before, and since I haven't been out of the country (or traveled by air, so I don't know how things have changed in that respect either) since before Sept. 11, I'm wondering what I might expect at the border crossings. In particular, what sort of ID do I need to present. My driver's license is not the photo kind. When last I flew, in 2000, they accepted the license plus another piece of ID. But I'm wondering if that's still good enough. The latest photo ID I have is a faculty card from a school for which I no longer work. My passport is no longer valid. Should I be thinking about reobtaining one? Anything anyone can tell me will be appreciated. Rich From: 12752 Mar-8 2002 9:58am To: HQR I renewed my passport. It's easier than updating other types of I.D. What is needed to cross the border is a valid drivers liscence with photo I.D. and a birth certificate. Where your liscence does not have your picture, I would just update the passport and save the thought of any hassle at the border. It took less than 3 weeks to get the new passport too, even though they said up to 6. From: RUSTYREDD Mar-8 2002 10:10pm To: HQR I work out of a major airport in the US and believe me its tough. Be at least 3 or more hours early for your flight. Be prepared to have everything searched. We have all customers remove their shoes even. If just one person is in question, we clear out the entire airport all the way out the door to the outside and everyone must start all over again. Folks are very understanding. Police are everywhere and you must not even allow someone to park their vehicle unless its to unload or a ticket will be written or worse yet the vehicle will be impounded. Most important take NOTHING with sharp edges. Have your passport or a current birth certificate . You can be turned around at the border if you are not current with either. Some borders require both. Depends where you are entering. Travel light. Take no razors. An electric one is permissible. I have many more tips if you need some Good luck and have a great time Redd From: Dormie Mar-11 2002 10:21am To: HQR hi rich americans with a valid passport will have no trouble with entry to canada driving in thru niagara falls do not bring a gun (they will detain you) a travel note, the least used bridge is the lewiston/queenston bridge, the north most bridge, may seem farther but is faster to cross, take I90 north on I290 to I190 if you forget your passport, the aliens hide atop a box car and take the train bridge across, and there is no toll either ;-) also fillup on gas before crossing, it's cheaper than canadian. From: LEWPORT71 Mar-11 2002 12:20pm To: Dormie Bridges to Canada: If flying to Buffalo airport, then you will probably take the PeaceBridge that connects Buff to Fort Erie and then drive North on the QEW. Driving. The Lewiston Queenstown bridge is the most northern and Domie's directions are right on. Downside to this crossing is that the L-Q bridge gets A LOT of truck traffic. This might slow the crossing. However, the drive from Queenston to the Hotel along the river is great. Pass by one of THE best golf courses in the region. Downtown NF NY has two bridges, one is named the Whirpool bridge and the other's name escapes me now. (Getting older--gray matter in decline). Driving around the American side can be confusing though. One of the bridges allows pedestrian traffic and walking across approx 82 days to go.. get those golf clubs cleaned... "The Ark was built by amateurs while professionals built the Titanic" From: Sarah Mar-11 2002 5:46pm To: LEWPORT71 Other bridge in DOwntown Niagara FAlls is the "rainbow Bridge" When we travelled there in 2000 we walked across.. They assked if we were US citizens and where we were born (Yes This was Pre 9-11) we had birth certificates for all the kids and had our drivers licenses. Granted we were just visiting for a few hours...But crossing was very easy Sarah miscellaneous - Return of the last basher.... From: opal (OPAL219) Jun-9 2002 1:27am To: ALL Yep.. I was the last of the bashers to leave Niagra Falls.. tho there were a couple still in Niagra on the lake - doing the festival of Shaw plays. Well, actually I am not quite home yet.. In Tampa tonight.. home tomorrow.. and gawd!!! I miss the evening hot tub!!!!! Home.. almost and totaly worn out! The bash was great fun!!!! Shame there was no lap top rental place tho.. :::::trivia withdrawl symptoms:::: We did touristy things, collected trivia questions.. watch for Falls categories to appear soon gang (not in F&F of course) Toto.. re: chocolate.. I think the postal service must be enjoying them.. I checked with the desk each day.. and nuthin :( not that there was any shortage of candy.. running bash giggle.. every time Opal got out of the car.. she bought chocolate!!! and my response.. yeah.. what's your point? lol them cannuks got some great fudge! to anyone from bash that is interested.. left over "supplies" managed to find a home.. you would be amazed how much "stuff" can be put in check in luggage when dirty laundry gets mailed home.. and even better.. won't hafta do the wash until at least the 13th!!! Let it never be said that triviots don't do their part for the local economy.. the casino was a favorite stop for a select few. There was a mom and pop kind of bar/eatery "down the corner" from the hotel called Picklez .. great place good home style eats.. well, and the beer. This was the poutine depot for me. Great Italian food across the road and "down the corner" and huge meals. It took a day or so, but we managed to find the liquor store.. the beer store and a local grocery store.. even got the sale sheet from the A&P! lol We had a great group.. my opinion was that we were a really cute bunch! next bash----Vegas or Jamaica mon???? gotta hit post now.. first try went *poof* so.. I guess nothing much has changed around here.. cept WTG!!! Toto!!! I see you are now officially hammered!! We all knew you could be if you tried :) c yas when I get rested... some time round july lol miscellaneous - Finally home again From: RussII Jun 9 2002 1:40am To: ALL Hey gang, After a 3-day drive each way to the place called Niagara Falls, I am once again at the home-20 in Colorado. It was quite warm the last 500 miles, the thermometer in the car said it was 103 outside... and the view in Colorado is very distressing. The fires have put a layer of smoke that covers almost the northern half of the state. You cannot even see the mountains around Denver. It is a strange sight...:( Well, onto a bash report: It was a bit rainy the first couple days, but cleared off much better on Thursday. We got some good pictures of the falls, even went down behind them for a close-up. When I get my pics developed, I'll see if I can get them posted here. We ate quite well, had a great time together, and parted on good terms...:) It was a bit surprising on seeing a few of the folks, of course there was no resemblance to what my imagination came up with. There is rumour of a get-together later in the year at Ocean City... The pics that J127 posted are a good indication of what went on in the room, except she didn't show a pic of the bar set-up...:) To sum up.......THX A BUNCH JJJJJJJJJ FOR PUTTING A BASH TOGETHER!! It was worthwhile....... laters, R. btw JJJ, have you posted our "special" picture yet? From: opal (OPAL219) Jun 10 2002 7:20am To: RussII Oh good!!!! you weren't captured by the mounties!!! We wondered what happened to you, since during the night you vaporized! Didn't even make the first breakfast. What time did you pull out anyhow???? I of course mean from the parking lot. Ever find the cribbage peg? Glad you made it home ok (((huggs))) miscellaneous - Finally home again From: RussII Jun 10 2002 7:52pm To: opal (OPAL219) unread Opal, I checked out at 8am......didn't see any of the crowd around, so I passed on breakfast. And yes, in the emptying of all pockets and pouches, I found the missing blue peg..Yayayay laters, R. {} miscellaneous - Finally home again From: iquit2000 (LYNN609) Jun 12 9:23pm To: Sarah (ZIGGY0) Glad everyone made it back. It was great to meet everyone! Adding a few of my pics here. Unfortunately they would not let us take photos in the casino!
