======================================================= Return to the Trivia Club Bashes ======================================================= Bash - LAS VEGAS BASH From: DAG (lowthorpe) Jan-25 7:33pm To: ALL May 2007 Bash Planning is in motion for a Las Vegas, Nevada Bash! Please join us. The dates have been carefully coordinated with Bill’s scheduled time in the US this spring and other factors including holidays. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 seems to be the best starting date (i.e. that would be the date when folks will be assumed to arrive, although of course anyone is free to arrive at any point). At this point we have no idea what the level of interest might be. So it is a tiny Bashette at this point. Plans include a “mixer” of some kind so that we actually can see and hear each other, alcohol to buffer the shock of seeing and hearing each other, a group dinner, other group activities (Liberace Museum anyone?), a room of some kind to use as a base and as a storage place for beer, soft drinks, inebriated Triviots and other standard Bash amenities. We are in need of a theme for this Bash. It has been suggested that the working theme we’ve been using, “Rioting Triviots from Hell!”, may make it more difficult to procure rooms and other items (although I kind of like it). Suggestions are solicited. Please post replies to this message, or privately to Toto or DAG so that we can start counting noses. Toto & Dave and DAG ============================================================================================================== Bash - Bash Date Is Set 1-30-07 From: toto269 Jan-30 8:03pm To: ALL OKAY BASH DATE(s) SET...............I WILL BE ARRIVING MAY 9TH, WHICH IS A WEDNESDAY. Currently I am showing ten people on my list and what I need to do is come up with confirmation of the names (will need real names and not aliases), to provide the tour operator with so I can attempt to get us all on the same plane. Once I have the list of real names I can provide the operator with them so they can attempt to group us together as we individually book. I will be providing a link so that you will be able to book individually on line. As it stands the tour operator will attempt to group us all together, but there is no guarantee that we might not be split up, although they will do their best to keep us all together. The cost of the flight is $125.00 US, and it breaks down as $100.00 per person with a federal fuel surcharge of $25.00 going to Uncle Sam. To take the flight you will need photo idea with you and they will make arrangements to pick us up at the hotel, and drop us all off after the flight. The flight will be departing from North Las Vegas airport and will last approximately 4 hrs. The list I have now includes; Broadwa, Lauren, Toto & Dave, Jags, Bill, Clueless, Ziggy, Emarkmiller and myself. If you wish to be included please post in reply to this message and I will amend the list accordingly. I will also need your real names and if your not comfortable posting them here you can simply e-mail it to me through the link on the board. Hopefully by this weekend I will have the link up for everyone to make the final arrangements. Thanks and looking forward to meeting you all in Vegas. [flight Saturday May 12.] Goose ============================================================================== Bash - Hotel reservations From: broadwa Apr-11 6:15pm To: ALL This is what I have found out for our rooms at the Imperial Palace for the BASH. The following people are now on the same floor in very close proximity to each other: Bill, broadwa, lauren, Dave and Toto, Goose, Ziggy, Russ, Solo, Dez and Coyac. We are on the smoking floor, which many of you had requested. For the rest of you which would include Clue, DAG, Jags, Dena, Markmiller, Jean (Triviastamper) and Karen (KB), as of right now your names are not listed as registered at the Imperial Palace. In talking with the person who helped with the blocking of the rooms, she thinks that if you went through a travel agent, your rooms may not have been entered yet. Or maybe you have not reserved rooms yet. If you have registered at the Imperial Palace but registered under an alias, I would need to know this so that I can get you with the rest of the group. If you have NOT registered yet and want to be with the group, please do so ASAP. I am going to call back in a few days like next week Tuesday, April 17th, to see if you are registered and get you in with the group. If you have registered, you may want to call the hotel to double check what the problem might be. Don't want you to spend the night out on the street. Any other questions, send me an email or ask me in a game. Will be glad to give you any information that I know. broadwa =========================================================================== From: broadwa Apr-30 7:38pm To: ALL I just got off the phone with the Imperial Palace people. I did my best to get everyone into the group. These are the ones that are grouped together: Toto, Broadwa, Goose, Bill, Ziggy, Russ, Lauren, Jags, Clue, Solo, Mark, Dez, and Coyac. For the others who may not be registered yet or are not on this list for some reason, (DAG, Dena, Triviastamper, Karen) when you check in, just give them my name (JOHS) tell them you are with the Trivia Chat. (My name is probably the key). They should have plenty of rooms in the general area. IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!! KEEP IT MOVING!! broadwa ============================================================================ From: toto269 May-2 8:03pm To: dezak HERE'S THE SCHEDULE AS I KNOW IT NAME ARRIVING LEAVING Linda & Dave (toto) Wednesday Monday Bill Wednesday Sunday Russ Thursday Sunday Paul (goose) Wednesday Monday Lauren Friday Monday David (dag) Wednesday Saturday Nancy (jags) Thursday Sunday Mike (clue) Friday Sunday Myron (broad) Thursday Sunday Mark (ziggy_ks) Wednesday Monday Mark (emarkmiller) Wednesday Monday Rick (njdevilsfan) Wednesday Monday Denise (dezak) Thursday Monday Dena Thursday Sunday Coya (coyac) Thursday Monday Elf lives there :) =========================================================== From: BillP49 May-6 3:43 pm To: ALL OK, due to the Bash there are a lot of holes in the schedule this week. If I can get my computer to work with the hotel's wireless network I can cover some of the 8pm (5pm in LV) games and score some of the other games. If I have to use dialup it will be a different story since the hotel only allows one hour a day of free local calls. =================================================================== Bash - Not too long now From: Goose (Goose2007) May 8 10:20am To: ALL Gotta love computers; Pre-customs paperwork is all done and I'm all checked in for my flights with my boarding passes in hand already. Get to the airport first thing in the morning, either drop off my bag or decide to carry it on and right into the customs line. 08:25 am local departure here and should be in Vegas by 2:10 pm local after a change of planes in Denver. Took a look at the weather and its forecast to stay pretty much the same for us here in Montreal as it is now. Clear skies, temps in the high 60's to low 70's with unlimited visibiliy. Denver is a bit cooler low 60's to high 60's with rain showers moving in the late afternoon. Should be in an out of there before any of that weather is forecast to hit. Las Vegas is boring. Not going to change over the next 24 hours and probably for the rest of the week. Taking a look at the weather map I see nothing but big fat H's over most of the US although it looks like the ride might get a little bumpy over the Central part of the US. Anyway, should be an easy travel weather day for all of us, which should last until we all come home. Goose ====================================================== Bash - OK here in LV From: BillP49 May-9 8:51 pm To: ALL OK, I am here in LV now but I can't get my wireless working so my time on line will be limited. About to go out to dinner with Solo, Goose, Toto and Dave. Mark is also around somewhere. :) ========================================================= From: Richard C Goerne (ERUMELIA) May-9 9:47pm To: BillP49 Elf waited at the airport for 4 hours for you. I have her phone number and will give it to you by IM in the chat room. ======================================================= From: Goose (Goose2007) May-10 12:26am To: ALL I'm here also. Lol! Course Dag's not here yet. Goose Virtualflight Forum ====================================================== From: Elf (LINDA3212) May-10 2:27pm To: ALL I did not mind doing this actually. I've never driven to the airport or downtown Las Vega by myself. Now I know I can do it and what the best way to meet someone there is. Life is a process of learning and it's said every day you learn is another you have survived. I SURVIVED IT! LOL. Now if I can only get to this mysterious dinner with everyone that's supposed to be tomorrow night I will be REALLY HAPPY. ===================================================== From: BillP49 May-10 7:16 pm To: ALL Run what games u can. On my third attempt to meet up with my fellow triviots Scott and I finally succeeded but it wasn't easy. First I called and woke Goose up promptly at 8am, Las Vegas time. Then I called Toto who was on her way with Jags (something about who was supposed to be carrying the coffee.) While I was talking to Toto on the land line Broadwa called on the cell phone so I had a phone to each ear. All this fun ended when I eventually had to go to work. After two more calls during the day, in case plans changed, and the perk of talking to Clue for the first time it was finally time to get there. Whoo hoo. Dinner was scheduled for 7pm with Toto and Dave trying to find a place would set up a table for 20 since group had a chance to finally all sit at one table it was important that we did. We met in the Mai Tai bar, eventually taking over the entire bar I believe. Question for Toto, how many chairs did we leave for other customers? One or Two? I lost my cherrys after only two sips, actually the entire Tequila Sunrise, when I got up to hug somebody and knocked it off the table. Once the last three stragglers arrived, 1207 points to whoever can correctly guess who they were, we all trooped upstairs (okay it was an escalator) for dinner. After sending out the waiter to order our meals from the Deadliest Catch ships we did our best to hear all those little side conversations and quips that don't seem to make it into the chat room. To send a whisper to Toto it had to pass through four people and she ended up blaming Broad who was sitting next to me. I have to say that I found everyone to be more wonderful and whitty people in person than I had imagined they would be, even Dag. It felt like a family reunion. Thanks everyone I had a wonderful time. PS. PLENTY of photographs were taken by everyone. ================================================================================= From: Elf (LINDA3212) May-12 9:00am To: pietro961 After dinner last night the last time we saw our waiter, Mike, he had seven or more cameras hanging from his wrist taking a photo with each one. =================================================================== From: Goose (Goose2007) May-12 8:37pm To: ALL 8 Brave souls took to the skies over the canyon and 8 brave souls returned without winning a free lunch. Was a breathtaking flight and pics will follow. Between all of us there is probably close to 500 different shots. Only complaint came from Bill who said the stewardess was a little slow. When I later explained to him there was no stewardess on the flight, he said "Next time she should show up on time for the flight". Goose Virtualflight Forum =============================================================================== From: Goose (Goose2007) May-13 11:53am To: ALL Last night for some last night and the group split up. 1/2 went off dressed in grass skirts and got leid. The other half went off in search of Aladin's lamp and the marriage of Schezerade. Final results were that probably the first half just wound up going to bed exhausted and burnt from peeling pineapples and blind from being poked in the eyes with umbrellas and the second group discovered that Aladin was really an alias and that Schezerade puts on a great wedding reception at a buffet. Goose Virtualflight Forum ================================================================= From: Elf (LINDA3212) May-13 6:16pm To: Goose (Goose2007) Unfortunately there wasn't much grass but a lot of people got leid. Clue spilled a little of my drink for me so that was taken care of quite early again. Before this though we had taken over Mai Tai's again. At promptly 6:30 as instructed by the lady who sold us the tickets..(my clerk was a man who did not give this direction...watch out for the planetary alignments in the near future)..only to be properly lectured and sent back down stairs until 7PM sharp by a security guard. At five minutes to seven we trouped back up the stairs to get in the line of people who had probably been waiting for 20 minutes. ========================================================== From: Elf (LINDA3212) May-13 7:58 pm To: Lora (TRIVIABUFF) Yes I did. I spilled the first one, a Tequila Sunrise with not one but TWO cherries. When the second one went, a nonalcholic punch so I could find my car in the parking garage, I declared it an official Elf Bash Tradition. I forgot to ask Goose...and did you guys get an offical overpriced Las Vegas photograph taken??? From: RussII May-13 10:44pm To: ALL Hey all, Just a quick note from the old home-20. I got back home about 90 minutes ago, and collapsed on the couch with the mail. And need to say thanks to tototototototo and Bill for making the bash happen. It was really neat to finally meet a large portion of the usual suspects and make the beginnings of beautiful friendships..(Golly, someone ought to use that for a line in a movie). Am eagerly awaiting the posting of the 10's of thousands of pictures taken...:) thx all, Russ ================================================================ From: J12752 7:57am To: RussII Home around 9PM, you must have left at noon time lol!!!! Welcome back home! Play Trivia games in the Trivia Club ============================================================== From: BillP49 11:30am To: ALL A very successful bash in Las Vegas. Remet ppl I hadn't seen since the Lake Tahoe bash in 1997, and met a lot of new ppl. I was somewhat late in getting home, the plane left my connection place in Detroit an hour and a half late, we were waiting for a plane to come in from Rochester, what was with that Russ?? :) It will be awhile before I get any pictures up, will spend this afternoon going through them, but am having problems ftping them to my site. So it will be a few days. :) ================================================================ From: call me Hungry Joe (Clueless139) 1:11pm To: ALL What a hoot!! I got to meet so many friendly people from all around this large country of ours and even a mate from another land (whom I trust is driving carefully). The food and drinks were delicious, and plentiful, the wait staff and bartenders couldnt have been nicer. The flight over the canyon was awesome; the colours and depth and sheer size of it all magnificent. (me and Broadwa didnt have to soil the barf bags). I started missing everyone around 3:00pm Nv time, but by the time I sat my sore butt in the comfy Ranger I had a big sh..-eatin grin on my face. Thanks to all the nice people, I wish everyone would have had the chance to go. Maybe next time!!! =============================================================== From: RussII 2:36pm To: J12752 JJJJJJ, Yep, the flight left the gate at 11:10am PDT, got into Cleveland at 6:10pm EDT, and the connection to Rochester left about 7:15pm. Amazingly, I only to wait about 3 minutes at baggage claim and I was driving home by 8:30pm. laters, Russ ================================================ From: Jags5427 4:07pm To: ALL It really was a great bash! So nice to finally meet all the people I spend my evenings with. Thanks to Toto & Bill for getting us all together! I had a really nice time and can't wait for the next one. Hugs to all of you, Nance ============================================================= Bash - Whew......we made it through! From: broadwa May 14 9:4pm To: ALL Just to add my two cents in that I didn't lose at the machines..... It was just like having a family reunion. I had met Elf before but the rest of the bunch were just like all the other relatives I have. They could have fit right in with my first family. It was a wonderful time and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting every one of them. Even after the long day of work and the flight on thursday night, I had just crawled into bed when Toto called and told me to get down to the Mai Tai for visiting. Like a good little boy, I got dressed and went down and stayed there talking with her and dave until 4 a.m.!! thanks to Dez and Russ for the transportation from and to the airport. We didn't get lost. Thanks to Bill and Toto for getting this going and to Goose for lining up the flight over the Grand Canyon. I was in awe at what Mother Nature can do to the landscape! Thanks to all for your wonderful friendship! It made for a very wonderful weekend getaway for me. i could tell little stories of all the triviots, but what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! =================================================================== Bash - Whew......we made it through! From: Goose (Goose2007) May-14 11:39pm To: ALL Toto and Dave are over in concourse C and I'm waiting for my plane to depart at 22:20 (thats 10:20 pm). Should be in Detroit by 05:40 and back into Montreal by 12:00. Pretty much the same for them too. We're the last to leave. Where did everyone go? Goose Virtualflight Forum =========================================================== From: dezak May 14 9:50am To: ALL Well, after five hours on Southwest Airlines, which I vow NEVER to fly again, we get to the airport only to discover our luggage veered off in a different direction. (Woman at counter: "They're not lost". Me: "Well, if you can't tell me where they are, they're LOST!" Sheesh!) Did get a phone call at midnight saying they were found and could be delivered at 4 am or between 8 and noon Tuesday morning. I chose the later. Anyway, Larry and I had a great time in Vegas. It was so great to meet everyone. What a great group of people! Let's do it again! Denise ===================================================== From: Ziggy_ks May 14 10:35am To: RussII Got in here about 6:30 p.m. And of course first thing I hear on the tv, storms on the way and in another flood watch. It was great not having to think about those for th e last few days. Thanks Toto,Bill and Goose for lining up activities and things. The canyon flight was great I have 87 pictures from there to go through. I'll post a couple. Zig =========================================================== From: Goose (Goose2007) May 14 12:50pm To: Lora (TRIVIABUFF) Nah! I was just at the Vegas airport when I posted that. Got in the door here in Montreal about 40 mins ago. 4 hrs of sitting, sleeping and snoring at the gate in Detroit. lol! Flights were ok, but for some reason the Captain on the one out of Vegas decided we all needed the heat on for some reason. Very uncomfortable to try and get some sleep. Goose Virtualflight Forum ================================================= Bash - A couple of pictures From: toto269 May 15 4:56pm To: Goose (Goose2007) THE ONE WORD HANGING OVER THAT GROUP OF TRIVIOTS, PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL! LOL WHAT A GREAT TIME.........THANKS TO ALL WHO ATTENDED.........MAY WE ALL MEET AGAIN SOON! WORDS FAIL ME (i know.....hard to believe) AT WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME IT WAS.......TO MEET ALL THESE GREAT PEOPLE I'VE BEEN PLAYING TRIVIA WITH FOR SUCH A LONG TIME WAS, AS ZIG SAID IN ONE POST, PRICELESS! WISH MORE COULD HAVE ATTENDED..........BUT THERE'S ALWAYS THE NEXT BASH! :) OUR PLANE ARRIVED IN CANTON AT 9:22a.m. HAD THE MOST WONDERFUL TICKET AGENT AT THE LAS VEGAS AIRPORT, WHO SAVED US FROM GOING FROM ATLANTA TO CINCINNATI, WHERE WE WOULD HAVE SAT FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS AND NOT ARRIVED HOME UNTIL AFTER 12:30. INSTEAD, WE HAD A DIRECT FLIGHT OUTTA ATLANTA, INTO AKRON/CANTON AND WE WOUND UP PULLING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY AT 9:50 a.m. AND PROMPTLY TOOK NAPS. AMAZING HOW YOUR BODY LETS YA KNOW YOU'RE GETTING OLDER WHEN IT'S BEEN UP FOR 0VER 24 HOUR. FIRST EMAIL I SAW IN MY EMAIL BOX..........LOG OF UND'S GAME FROM BILL.......GUESS VACATION IS OFFICIALLY OVER! LOL HUGS TO ALL...............GREAT TIME AWAY........GOOD TO BE BACK Linda ===================================================== Bash - Just A Note From: toto269 May 16 9:41pm To: ALL Dez and I were talking during half time of Oz game earlier this evening....we were saying that we missed everyone already.......and how everyone really felt like friends even before the first meeting. This is probably sappy to most people, but it was how i felt upon saying goodbye to everyone.....and this is what i said to Dez "If I could only shrink them all and take them home in my suitcase and then when I got home, toss them all around in my yard and let them grow and be my neighbors........it would be a pretty darn good neighborhood" Linda ============================================================ Bash - Whew......we made it through From: CoyaC May-17 3:44pm To: ALL I finally made it home Tue about 4:30. I am never driving to Vegas again! Getting out of town was a major hassle. Ended up going north when I wanted south but finally hit the hiway. Stopped in Bullhead City for the night (NOT Laughlin--enough with the casinos already!) about 3 and hung by the pool. Got up early the next day and went to Oatman, AZ. It's an old mining town that's now pretty touristy but still pretty neat. Gable and Lombard spent their honeymoon at the hotel there and wild burros roam the streets for the trouristas to feed. When I left, I took the old Rte 66 road out to the hiway. Was good to get home and see the kitties but came down with major sinus hooha that night. Missed a night of work and still feel pretty puny but can't use up anymore of my sick leave. Thanks to everybody who made the bash a good time! It was great meeting you all and I had fun. The Imperial Palace probably appreciates my money also. Prolly be in to play Sat or Sun nite. CoyaC ========================================================== Bash - In case you didn't know..... From: Dena (DENA16) May-16 11:29pm To: ALL We all had a great time in Vegas. Good people, good food, good people, good entertainment, good people, good drinks.... Did I mention good people? It was so wonderful to be able to put faces to so many names I have known for years. Like someone posted before, it really was like a family reunion. I may not post or play much in the forum, darn irritating thing called work interferes, but I visit the forum several times a week, just to keep up with what you crazy folks are doing :) I especially want to say what a wonderful time I had meeting Toto (well, and Dave too, I guess LOL!). She was the perfect, if unofficial, hostess. High honors to her for keeping us all in line, well kind of, and coordinating dinners and fun, AFTER she had everyone's cell phone numbers :) All hail the mighty Toto!!!!
