(return to the families list)Mary Lou(Stoltenberg)Orr, now Hasson (*), has published an excellent book on her Stoltenbergs ancestors of Bendfeld in the Probstei and the U.S.A.: From the Probstei in Germany to the Prairies of America (1990) Our common Stoltenberg descent diverges in the second generation that she treats and in the third generation mine of that line marries out to another Stoltenberg family of Hoehndorf/Fiefbergen (the number of different surnames in the Probstei was rather small and Stoltenberg was one of the more common surnames). What is presented here is a treatment of three Stoltenberg families that intermarried. Unrelated Stoltenberg families (not indexed). My Kuhl booklet introduction deals with the general geographical area and its history. The villages these Stoltenbergs were from: Bendfeld, Fiefbergen, and Hoehndorf; were within the boundaries of the Probstei. In this work I have treated forenames in the same manner as in the Kuhl booklet.
