(return to families list)*** Photographs in the text are marked with a clickable " (*) " at the names *** This is an updated version of what had been an annual updated attempt to record the history and genealogy of a Kuhl family. Each of the last several versions has promised the distribution of the final version a year hence. Any further additions will be minor changes to existing entries if I receive information from interested parties. I will leave it to others to possibly connect the Kuhls in Nebraska and Iowa (plus possibly Illinois and Wisconsin) to 5. Heinrich Kühl. This is not impossible but beyond the time that I have available; I must be off to work on other of my grandparental families. As an aside I should note that I suspect the lack of available records on most of the children of 3. Heinrich Kühl may be due to their having accepted Catharine the Great's offer of land along the Volga. This version is divided into four Sections. Section I contains the information on Kühl in Germany. Section II contains the information on the immigrants and their families. Section III is composed of family information on some of the families allied to Kühl in Germany. Section IV is Appendices. In Sections I and II family information is arranged following a modified form of the cognate Register style, i.e. that style used in the New England Genealogical and Historical Record, wherein the descendants of daughters who marry out of the family are followed only to their grandchildren. Each individual member of the immigrant generation and his/her family are treated separately in Section II. A simple family chart precedes each family group and is keyed numerically to the text; it is hoped that this will aid the reader. INTRODUCTION
