1. Henry1 Kuhl, born 1831/2 Holstein, Germany, died Jun 1881 Omaha(Douglas)NE
married Charlotte ----- b. 1841/2 United States. Henry enlisted as a Captain
in the Civil War on 10 Mar 1864, when he was living at Plattsmouth(Cass)NE.
On 7 Jun 1864 he joined Co. C of the Nebraska 1st Battn Cavalry. On 10 Jul 1865
he joined Co. F of the Nebraska 1st Cavalry and was discharged with a disability
on 11 Oct 1865. Later he was a steamboat captain on the Missouri River and lived at
St. Mary's, Bellevue, Plattsmouth (1870 census), Florence, and Omaha NE where he
committed suicide. The Omaha Evening Telegram of 14 Jun 1881 said,
"Family troubles and the war are said to have broken him up entirely."

mouth in 1935). Fred was a farmer on a large island in the Missouri River below Platts-
mouth. The Nebraska State Journal of 1 Mar 1896 said, ".. committed suicide
this morning [datelined "Feb 29"] by blowing the top of his head off with a shotgun."
